Friction Dust

Friction dust is added to brake linings to modify the frictional and wear properties of brake linings. It also provides similar properties as that of CNSL matrix resin(Binding Resin). Formulations for improved skid resistance and low brake noise have been reported. The friction dust is generally prepared by cross-linking CF resin with hexamine/ paraformaldehyde and powdering the product to the required specifications. Modified friction dust for applications in 'hot wear' conditions can be prepared from Modified CNSL Resin or from borated CNSL resin. Borated friction dust is known to be especially used in the production on air brake pads. Additionally, they wouldn't catch fire during transportation as is reported to have happened in the case of CF based friction dust.

Properties
Friction Dust have a resilient nature which cushions the engaging property of a piece of lining. In addition, they decompose on the surface of a lining at various elevated temperatures which controls the wear and offers a protective device by prohibiting excessive temperature from being developed. The inclusion of friction particles also helps control brake noise

Application
Cashew Friction Dust is a highly specialized material used in special applications for manufacturing of Brake Lining, Brake pads, Brakes shoes, Railway Block and Clutch Facings where high absorption and frictional properties are needed.

This material of various mesh sizes is supplied according to requirements of various manufacturers for making Brake linings and clutch facings. These particles can be used in metallic, semi-metallic and non asbestos brake products
